Project Gentili presents the two-part group exhibition, Pole Shift, on preview at Project Gentili in Italy from September 5 – November 11, 2008 and presented fully in Charlottenberg, Berlin from October 25 thru December 15.
Pole Shift consists of works by gallery and non-gallery artists proposing alternative axes of understanding. Titled by Damon Zucconi, “pole shift” refers to the hypothesis that under certain conditions a planet’s rotational axis will relocate—a notion confirmed by science and dramatized by popular fiction and new age cosmologies. In light of renewed popular interest in metaphysics, the exhibition brings together artistic investigations into self-projection, extra-dimensionality and alternative social schema.
Pole Shift (Prato) is an opportunity to experiment with and better understand key works and related materials. The exhibition will be accompanied by the development of a related zine.
Pole Shift (Berlin) is presented in affiliation with the VIP program of Art Forum Berlin Art Forum Berlin 09 and marks Project Gentili’s first off-site exhibition. Occupying a 1,000 sqm space in Charlottenburg, Berlin, the site will also host vernissage installations and performances by AIDS-3D and others.
