In Magnitude, a canonical split-second moment is rendered in geologic time. A coquettish turn of a beautiful woman's head towers over Istanbul for two weeks.
This archetypical moment, a cliche of advertising and film is distilled into a powerful symbol of human temporality. However this woman is not truly human, she is a flawed simulation of a woman, a figment of a post-biological mind's imagination. She embodies the Uncanny Valley, the feelings of anxiety aroused by objects which imperfectly simulate life. Her compressed CG form misses some essential human details
(A soul, maybe?)...a subtle warning of what might be lost in the evolution towards the next magnitude of consciousness.
